3 Myths About Outsourcing Editing (and why they're wrong)

#1. “Only photographers who don't know what they're doing outsource editing."

Absolutely the opposite. Only photographers WHO KNOW what they're doing outsource editing!! If you tried to put in an order for Postmates and said "Yeahhhh just get me some healthy stuff." They're not going to know what to buy for you and possibly end up buying items you hate (like beets... who tf likes beets???)

When you give a specific list, quantities, and what brands you prefer, your order will be right EVERY TIME. If you don't know what you're doing when editing, you don't know what results you want, and you won't know how to tell an editor. Successful photographers KNOW their style, know their process, and know their outcome. My photographers have consistent portfolios and their editing style is SO perfected that I can usually nail their edits without them answering the preferences questionnaire.

#2. "My RAW images are horrible! I don't want anyone seeing them!"

Listen. I know we beat ourselves up when we're not perfect, but guess what? NO RAW IMAGES ARE PERFECT!!! They're all edited and I know exactly what beauty lies between even the most wrecked white balance and the darkest exposure! Also. Take comfort in knowing that I NEVER share unedited images and don't feature any before/afters from my photographers. The only time I show the power of editing is with my own images. So don't worry, no one else will see your RAWs but me!

#3. "I have to be a full time, successful photographer to outsource my editing."

Definitely not! If you have the desire to spend less time behind your computer and more time with your family, building your business, or just living your life, you have every right and ability to outsource! (and I’ll be right here to help you when you make that decision!!)
